The Cherry Blossom design is the instructed paint theme of the night, but you can design and hand paint your very own design on YOUR garment, as well!

Pull out that denim piece from your closet that could use a touch of TLC and Self Expression!

Our unique goal is that you revive YOUR overlooked, denim garment that is not being worn!

Create a buzz around your unique, hand painted fashion piece because nobody is doing "Paint Nights" of this caliber. Use this night to add some sass and personal style to your OWN denim.

The True Cost - Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion

The Chayah Movement, Zero Waste Washington and Tacoma Tool Library are collaborating to bring the Tacoma community this ground breaking documentary, followed by a brief discussion with industry experts.

What is The True Cost?

This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the fashion industry is having on our world and why we are seeing a shift in the fashion industry. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for clothing we choose to buy? What are we truly investing in?

Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world’s leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Vandana Shiva, The True Cost is an unprecedented project that invites us on an eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.

Event Attendees will walk away with practical and immediate ways in which they can buy and donate more responsibly. The Chayah Movement will share their favorite ethical brands, connect you to an app where you can see how your favorite brands are rated, and give you a list of places where your unwanted threads can live on past you.
